Thats right you fucking heard me I am getting my drivers license!! At the ripe age of 21 I have finally decided that I am sick and tired of not knowin how to drive, and dammit I want a car to decorate.
So. I have my permit, and I have been driving almost daily. I have driven in residential streets, busy streets, and the freeway multiple times with no problems. So far the thing I have the most trouble with is parking, I just cannot for the LIFE OF ME figure out how to fucking angle the car the correct way.
But I am getting closer, and I am confident enough that I have an appoinment on the 19th to take my drive test. Since I have my permit, at least in my state, I do not need to take the knowledge exam again, just need to pass the drive test.
I cannot tell you how many people have asked me why I don't drive since moving out of my hometown. Over there, there is a wonderful public transportation system, and so it wasn't crazy uncommon to see people without cars, but most people did at least have a drivers license.
But here, genuinely EVERYONE drives. It is so crazy to people that I don't, and don't even get me started on the looks I get when I'm just walking to the store thats a block away. Thats the other thing. I currently work a BLOCK away from my house, which was on purpose, so I could just walk there.
But so many of my coworkers are almost horrified when they find out that I'm walking. And I get it, its cold. But yall, its a BLOCK. Its not even 2 minutes. Back in my hometown I had to walk for 20 minutes in freezing cold and wind, just so I could catch a bus. So a 2 minute walk is do-able.
Anyways, I hope everything goes well with driving, I just need a little bit more practice and I think I will be able to pass my drive test!! Already got some CD's for the car, and my first solo trip planned out. Gonna drive to a nature center, listen to music, and read my book. Its going to be beautiful.
